Important updates on Thinkstock

We'll be taking steps between now and 2019 to transition Thinkstock subscribers and image pack users onto Getty Images and iStock by Getty Images, where they'll enjoy access to all of the great images available on Thinkstock, plus more. To begin the transition, as of April 2018, we'll no longer sell or renew 1-year subscriptions.

How will this affect my current subscription or image packs?
Don't worry, if you have an existing 1-year or 1-month subscription or image pack, you'll be able to download with them until you run out of downloads or they expire. You can also purchase additional image packs or renew monthly subscriptions as usual.

What happens when my 1-year subscription ends?

Once your 1-year subscription ends you'll get a special offer to move to a Getty Images Premium Access subscription that will give you access to the same spectacular content from Thinkstock, iStock, and Getty Images you get today, at the same low price.

  • Access to millions of the world's best images across Getty Images and iStock all in one place
  • No daily or monthly download limits

While there will be no additional updates to Thinkstock at this time, we will be rolling out more changes in the coming months. We'll share more information as it becomes available.

FAQs

Why is Thinkstock retiring?
We're retiring Thinkstock so we can focus on bringing you more spectacular images, flexible plans, enhanced features and integrated tools on Getty Images and iStock by Getty Images.

When is Thinkstock retiring?
We'll be retiring Thinkstock in mid-2019. As a result, we'll no longer sell or renew 1-year subscriptions. In the coming months, we'll stop selling image packs and 1-month subscriptions as well. You'll continue to be able to download with previously purchased subscriptions and image packs until mid-2019. At that time, your account will only allow you to access previously downloaded files and view your Lightboxes.

What happens to my previous downloads?

If you have a 1-year subscription, your previous downloads will still be accessible to you on Thinkstock until the site is shut down, mid-2019. In advance of that, if you have an active Premium Access subscription, we will move your previous Thinkstock downloads over to Getty Images so you've got everything you need after Thinkstock is retired.

If you have a monthly subscription, your previous downloads will still be accessible to you on Thinkstock until the site is shut down mid-2019 or your monthly subscription expires.

If you have an image pack, your previous downloads will still be accessible to you on Thinkstock until the site is shut down mid-2019 or your image pack expires.

What happens to my current lightboxes?
You can continue to access your lightboxes on Thinkstock until mid-2019. Because Thinkstock images also lives on the Getty Images and iStock, you can search by the Thinkstock image ID to find the same images on those sites.

What is Getty Images Premium Access?
Getty Images Premium Access is a yearly subscription that has a lot of the same features as a Thinkstock 1-year subscription, plus new benefits you can only find at Getty Images. Contact a sales representative for more.

Why can't I just keep my Thinkstock 1-year subscription until the site goes away?
If you have an active 1-year subscription you can continue to use it until it expires. After that, we will help you make the move to Getty Images Premium Access so you can retain access to your existing content and get additional features.

Do Getty Images and iStock have the same content as Thinkstock?
Yes, the same content from Thinkstock is available on Getty Images and/or iStock.
